Here are some articles and information that explore alternative treatments and therapies on a range of health problems. Cancer is probably the one closest to my heart, and one that affects so many people today.
Whilst cancer is not infectious, it may as well be looking at today’s statistics. Cancer is the number one cause of death in Australia. Not heart disease, car accidents or suicide but cancer…. By now if you don’t know someone close to you who has cancer, you certainly know several people unrelated who do. In 2014, there were about 128,290 Australians diagnosed with cancer and it is estimated that approximately 150,000 are to be diagnosed in 2020*. In 2010, the risk of developing cancer before the age of 85 years was 1 in 2 in men and 1 in 3 in women*. Looking at those statistics all I ask myself is “what are the rates going to be 5, 10, 15 years from now?”.
Whether we like it or not (or know it!), we are all living right now with cancer cells in our body. At the end of the day, how you treat this precious entity – your body, is up to you. But in my opinion it is like everything in life – what you put in is what you get out of it….it may not be now, but in 30-40 years time it will show the years of continual abuse through high stress, harmful chemical environments and over processed foods high in salt, sugar and hydrogenated fats. Ultimately, I want my quality of life to be good in my old age, not to just be “surviving” but to be “living” and living well at that!
I doubt very much that I have not been scathed by the earlier years of abuse, enjoying far too many wines, all night parties and the odd dirty street pie or two at 3am! I am certainly not proud of the way I treated this sacred temple that is my body, and I wish I had the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of now to enlighten me to the damage I was doing.
I hope that through the articles posted here, our younger generation (and the older folk too :), will start to make better decisions on how we treat our body and understand the impact of todays “fast and easy” lifestyle. Today is a gift, tomorrow is precious.
